I am beyond ready to usher in the Spring months! Houston has been particularly gloomy this month, and with the arrival of Spring upon us, I am full of thoughts of sunshine, flowers, and all things outdoors. Not to mention my eagerness to put away the winter décor and start fresh with Spring home decor. Today’s blog is how to brighten and lighten your home with 5 tips to help you freshen up your home for spring. I will be sharing what to look for and my favorite Spring home décor essentials.
Add Spring Textiles to Your Home Decor
Just as colder months are known for warm velvets and fur, Spring too has its own go-to signature textiles. There are so many great fabrics to look for when adding a touch of Spring to your home décor. Opt for luxurious linens, woven pieces, and grasscloth when updating your throw pillows, drapes or bedding.
There is something about a natural rug that screams Spring to me. Rugs are a great way to update a room. And it just so happens that natural jute rugs can often be one of the most budget-friendly rugs #winning. Pops of Colors in Spring Home Decor
I often caution you about adding trendy items to your home décor. Save that tip for when you are purchasing big staple pieces. When you are looking to add budget-friendly fun pops of color items, it is ok to throw caution to the wind. Think throw pillows, blankets, candles, etc. This Spring and summer, you are going to see tons of bold pastels, neons, and tie-dyed items. These are so fun, but if you do take the leap and add these pieces, sprinkle them in with neutral and solid pieces — creating an overall balance to your space.

Bring Outside In
Spring is the season the flowers start to bloom, and the trees start growing. So naturally, we need to incorporate these aspects into our home décor. Adding fresh flowers to a room makes the eye pop and adds so much life. I love making a quick arrangement with classic spring flowers, such as tulips. If you don’t have time for fresh flowers, these are a great alternative. They are real touch and look!
Pro Tip: Never put the “plant food” packet in your water for tulips. Instead, drop a penny at the bottom of the vase. Trust me! The copper will keep your tulips beautifully plush without overly drooping – making them last double if not triple the time!

Stems and Trees
I live for live plants, and if you had a chance to read last week’s blog, 7 Low Maintenance Plants, you already knew that. I love the energy they bring to a space. But if your green thumb is missing, there are so many great faux options to choose from. BUT I truly believe what makes your plants stand out are the planters you select. A stunning unique planter can be showstopping. The white La Paz planter is a must-have steal!

Another great way to bring life into your spaces is by adding stems. Yes, quality stems can be hard to find, especially if you are looking to add height. Fear not, I found these beautiful stems for our foyer the other day, and they are amazing.

Raw Statement Pieces
Bringing in natural elements brings a sense of balance to any room. I have been adding in more natural pieces into our home since Christmas. Not only are natural bowls and baskets great for aesthetics, but they also double as extra storage. Don’t forget our month by month decluttering challenge. Change Your Scents
Sorry pumpkin spice everything, your time is gone! Time to lighten your space by adding in fresh airy scents. The sense of smell is one of the most forgotten décor to-dos, but one of the most important. It is the very first thing a guest will notice when they come into your home. Look for candles and diffuser scents of fresh linen or bountiful floral notes.
