Today is one of those days I am giddy with excitement and overwhelming pride. MRI’s growth has far exceeded anything I could have imagined in its two short years. But with growth comes change; I’m continually evolving myself as a boss babe and Melissa Roberts Interiors as a brand. I am so thrilled to reveal the MRI Logo and how it came to fruition as well as how MRI is branding itself. I am excited to share tips on how to be efficient when Creating a logo and branding your business!
Why is branding important?
Venturing out and starting your own business can be a scary process, and as the company grows it can be even more frightening as you try to make the right decisions on how to grow your business. I knew that I wanted to really focus on branding MRI in 2019. I personally love when I recognize someone’s work just by the design and details they’ve integrated. I want to make sure I represent MRI the same way. The start of this would be creating a logo that had valuable meaning and was unique. To accurately represent your brand, be sure to spend time assessing your business, what it means, and what you want it to represent.
Your brand must represent you and not anything else that you may find exciting or intriguing online. Everything you put out there for the world to see must accurately represent your business and what you want it to be. Your clients buy into you and ultimately fall in love with you as a person and brand. Don’t be afraid to BE YOU!
How?
Late last year I started the process of creating the MRI logo, partnering with Destiny Martin of 650 Media who is a mastermind at graphic design and creation. Destiny started the design phase by asking me several personal questions about both myself and MRI. She wanted to know who MRI currently exists as and what I wanted the business to evolve into. She turned those answers into a logo that represented me and MRI as a brand. Be sure to hire a professional who can design a logo that is unique to your business and will set you apart from everyone else. Then get all the merch printed you can and let everyone wear it proudly. I am currently working on merchandise orders so if you’d like something I will add you to my list.
The Meaning Behind the Logo
The MRI signature color is navy; a dark navy almost black in color.
Nick and I honeymooned in Greece and will always hold such a special place in our hearts. The inspiration started here!
The Logo showcases an M in the direct center, two reflected R’s, and the subtle essence of an I in the middle.
Modern triangulated shapes somewhat mimic the shape of a house.
I created a logo that works for me as an interior design business and also one that works for the influencer side of things as well!
Business Above. Influencer/Lifestyle Below.
Next, we move to the branding portion of the design and how to continue that into the different branches of MRI (Interior Designer, Influencer, and who knows, maybe something new will come this year!). Consistency is the primary key to branding. I started with our color pallet. Throughout the many models MRI may evolve into, I have selected navy as the primary color with the accent colors being black and white. Next, I narrowed down the fonts MRI utilizes, choosing three different scripts. This provides consistency in all MRI print and digital works. Lastly, sophisticated and modern design elements were incorporated to create a seamless product across the board.
Look at the thoughtful gift my hubs gave me for Christmas this year. I wear it proudly every day!
Owning and creating your own business is not for the faint of heart. There will days you feel you can conquer the world and others where you feel like you are drowning. There is a constant need to continue to learn new skills by taking classes, reading, learning from peers, and more. Creating a logo and branding your business is imperative to a successful business but is also very rewarding once the hard work is done . I have always been one to take the path less beaten, to stand out in the crowd, and I know my logo represents that. I hope hearing my logo creation journey inspires you to take that leap of faith and create something new that serves you and who you are and what you want! All office details can be checked out here. I must warn you though; this blog post is very intimate and personal!
