One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor. No, that’s not how we are doing this; let’s back up. Tequila is being served, but no one should be hitting the floor. My go-to cocktail is a Texas Ranch Water, but this season I am sprucing it up. Let’s dive into the details so you can serve up a ranch water cocktail at your next party.
Ranch waters are quick and easy to make. I am a tequila girl and try to drink low carb, low-calorie cocktails that help keep my figure in check. Topo Chico and Tequila are poured quite often around here. To dress it up for the holidays, I decided to add a rosemary sprig and a splash of cranberry to make it a bit more festive. Since this drink is all about the tequila and not about the fluff (sugar), be sure to use a smooth, top-shelf silver. Omit the seasonal add-ons if you prefer.
Ingredients:
- Silver Tequila
- Topo Chico with a twist of lime
- Lime Juice (fresh is best)
- Cranberry juice (and a couple of cranberries for topping)
- Rosemary
Tequila
Depending on the size of your glass, you will need approximately 1-2 ounces of tequila. I like to use 2 ounces per tall glass or 1 ounce per short glasses. Adjust the measurement to your (or your guests’) liking.
Mineral Water
While I love many kinds of sparkling water, when it comes to making the perfect Ranch Water, Topo Chico with a twist of lime is the best option. Trust me when I suggest you go for the “twist of lime.” It enhances the flavor, and you won’t regret it! After adding your desired tequila amount, fill the glass with Topo, leaving enough room for a splash of lime and cranberry juice. I typically buy a case of Topo Chico at a time but consider your guest list to see how many you will need.
Lime Juice
Even though you are using Lime flavored Topo Chico, I still recommend you squeezing 1-2 wedges of lime juice into the mix. If you’re not using fresh limes, just add a splash of cranberry, approx. 0.5 ounce. You can also omit the lime juice for the Christmas cocktail but definitely include it with the original Ranch Water.
Garnish
If you want to make the drink festive keep reading. Otherwise, your drink is ready to be served. You can garnish the Original ranch water with Tajin or salt and a lime wedge. For the Christmas cocktail, we will add a splash of cranberry, a rosemary sprig, and a couple of frozen cranberries. I love the flavor the rosemary added!
Shop Bar Essentials
When making this cocktail, don’t be afraid to mix it up. I prefer tart drinks over sweet ones. If you don’t want a heavy lime taste, omit one wedge or both. If you had a lousy day, add another ounce of tequila. Whatever makes you happy, do you! You now have the ingredients to create a concoction your guests will love it too!
