If you read my blog post from last fall, you may already know that I don’t enjoy using the traditional fall colors/decor. This fall, I am inspired by organic materials, mixed metal tones (heavy on the brass), and black and white hues. I love decorating for all the different seasons, fall is one of my favorites, but it can get expensive decorating for all the different seasons. This year I am incorporating minimalist fall decor by integrating budget-friendly and reasonable decorative pieces.

Each year I try to share new tips with you for each season. Last fall, I shared 3 Show-Stopping Pieces to Add to Your Fall Decor. While these still stand true, so try and incorporate these into your minimalist fall decor. My primary focus this year is to create vignettes in the eye-catching spaces of our home. In the past, I have lined our stairs with pumpkins, overflowed baskets with gourds, and filled the entry full of mums. While I still love these items, this year I hope to give you original ideas that you may not have thought if before.

PAMPAS GRASS

Pampas grass is everywhere right now…and I mean everywhere! I incorporated pampas grass into my Easter table setting this year and have been using it in our revamped living room since then. It’s apparent I think they are perfect for every setting! Pampas grass is easy to find in many different widths. For a minimal look, you will want to go with the thinner option but for a more voluminous effect use the fluffy, dried stems! Mine is extra fluffy, yet still, works for the minimalist vibes. I also love the look of bunny tails (not rabbit bunny tails…no, just no) so I have linked a couple of those as well. Style any of these stems in your favorite vase, scatter a few pumpkins and call it a day. Oh yeah, light a pumpkin spice candle while you’re at it!

UNIQUE IDEAS

While I must point out the obvious (throw blankets and pillows), I hope to get your wheels turning, so you create something a little more unique this year. I always add throw blankets and pillows to cozy-up the space, but this is expected, right? I mean, what is a caramel coffee at home without your favorite slippers, a cozy throw blanket, and fluffed pillows behind your back? Let me be real with you, I mean I always am, I hate flavored coffee. Black coffee with a couple of scoops of collagen is all I need. There, I said it; we can carry on. Sprinkle in the expected pumpkins but add unique pieces to give that “wow” effect.

Make your home feel like fall by adding in pumpkins, warm color hues, and layering textures. Use these traditional pieces but in unique ways. I style my bookcases with pumpkins integrated with my existing home decor, saving me time lots of time and money.

Set the stage with a modern candelabra enhanced by floral stems woven in and out of the base. I then add in a few pumpkins asymmetrically to the setting. I linked one of my favorite modern candelabras below!

Arrange a bowl full of fruit or veggies and set it off-centered, in front of a cake stand. Atop the cake stand, arrange a few fall stems (faux or real) with a pumpkin placed on top! Below you will see how I still a cake stand with a modern pumpkin with dried stems!

Cuttings boards and cheese boards are one of my favorite items to purchase. They also make an excellent base for any vignette. You can style objects on top of them or lean them against your wall to create a beautiful backdrop!

Incorporate unique lanterns filled with green moss, pumpkins, and simple buds; this is so easy to do! I added a few cheeseboards to anchor the setting!

Stems

Stems are an easy way to add character to a vignette. I like to add stems to vases, but I also like to layer them under pumpkins and around other items! Cut the stems if they’re too long. You can add foam to your vases if you struggle with getting them to sit correctly!

TRANSITIONAL PIECES

You want to feature transnational objects in your home. One HUGE bonus when purchasing transitional decorations is that they are, for lack of a better word, transitional. Meaning these decor pieces are great for decorating in-between seasons and can be utilized and featured differently for many seasons. How do you define transitional decorations, think staple pieces in neutral tones? Lanterns, vases, bowls, and candelabras are great options, and all can be styled in several different ways. Personally, I purchase seasonal decor that is neutral and timeless, so I can reuse them every year, including everything from pumpkins, to gourds, to accessories, this will save you money!

Let the BEST time of the year begin. To me this is when the year really speeds up, one day looking at the September calendar and before you know it we will be ringing in the New Year – AHH!
