Hiring an interior decorator is often presumed to be a luxury only the wealthy elite can afford. I get that, seriously. Why would you hire someone to buy products for you when you can purchase them yourself? How does spending that extra money for your room to “look” good make any sense? Well let me explain why…
Interior decorators can actually save you money when you’re trying to refresh, restyle or design your room. Here’s how….
Many times homeowners need to make big purchases, such as a sofa or a rug. Sure you can find great deals and save money, but what happens when the couch comes in and it is too big for the room? The cost to return big items, well..is not cheap. You probably spent quite a bit of time making that decision and now you need to spend more time to return it (if that’s even an option). What about when you order a fabulous rug, it is delivered and you see colors that you didn’t notice online PLUS once you lay the rug down you notice an unbelievable amount of shedding? These common mistakes are understandable. As a designer, I am able to use knowledge, experience and software that allows me to avoid these costly mistakes. In my house, I obviously want the room to “look” great, but I also need the room to “feel” just as good. This is where layout, flow and pieces must come together uniformly. By uniform, I am by no means saying “matching”. Nope, those days are long gone, thankfully.
Too many times (before digging deep into interior design) I have dreamed about a specific look or piece but put off making the purchase. Once I finally bit the bullet (even if it wasn’t pricey) and got exactly what I thought I wanted, I saw a pic on Pinterest or in a magazine of something new that has hit the market and immediately wanted that new look and had a new obsession. Basically, I spent the money and am now dreaming of something new. As an interior decorator, I get first look at the new trends and design elements. I have access to markets and lines that only decorators can see. I love walking into a room and seeing unique pieces that I don’t see everyday or every time I walk into a retail store. Only an interior decorator can get you access to pieces like that. I stay on top of the products, the quality, the trends, and designs. (Should I make a blog post to show you what 2017 is all about?!) This will also help you save money and time. No you don’t have to follow trends, follow your heart of course. How would you know about something up and coming if you aren’t told about it or haven’t seen it? You may find a new love right before you commit to something else. I also like to emphasize that I like to use timeless design elements. Bigger, more costly pieces aren’t as easy to change when a new design comes out. I like to be proactive here. Let’s buy timeless costly pieces and use the accents and less expensive items to give you the up to date trend!
Another designer perk is the discount I receive. Most designers DO NOT pass these discounts along to their clients (not bashing, just informing), this is where I do things differently. I want you to save money, honestly. I want to help you design one of the best rooms you’ve ever seen or been in but also I want to do this for a really good price. This is a career I am passionate about. I didn’t chose this career for financial reasons but to live out a dream of doing interior design everyday of my life. With some lines I receive 55% off, that means you receive 55% off too. I know where to shop for the pieces that will best fit your room. I save you time and money.
Budget & Timing, two of the most important aspects of designing. TIME IS MONEY. It is imperative to be on time but also to be on budget. I will be very realistic with you when it comes to both of these. Timing and budget will be two important things we discuss at the initial consultation. I will save you lots of time and headache as I work with you to pick out just the right elements for your home.
To have a home that is both beautiful and functional may seem unrealistic but this is something I can help you achieve. When you walk in the door after a long day at work I want you to get an overwhelming sense of relief and happiness. Home is where the heart is. Having a room you love and that is suitable for your family is something you deserve. I will give you design elements you love but are safe for your babies, accommodates everyone in the home, and is what you dream of having (no you don’t need that billion dollar Pinterest home to get this).
