For the first time, I’ve added color to our master bedroom, and I love it. I typically keep this room completely neutral but make it more exciting by adding in lots of textures. The tile in our master bathroom (builder selection) inspired me to carry this color into our bedroom. I am on the hunt for the perfect rug to add to our master bath to include this color that way also. The tile incorporates an icy blue/green color that is calming and perfect for a master suite.

I kept all the staple pieces the same and made small subtle changes to make the difference in refreshing this room. I love the soft blue/green accents I added making it feel fresh and relaxing while keeping the romantic ambiance (see the before here!). The overall feel of the room is less is more, but still extraordinarily luxurious and cozy.

Four Easy Steps:

1. Change your Linens

Such a super easy change that makes the most significant impact. I found this simple yet textured duvet to add to the foot of my bed. The bright color gives a light and airy feel, not to mention that texture which adds another layer to the room. Who doesn’t love fresh sheets? They just feel SO good!

2. Play with Pillows

My favorite way to save money is to reuse the pillow inserts I already have and simply buy new covers. Doing so allows me to change my look more often throughout the year and not blow my budget. It also makes storage a breeze. To make this easy, I fold the pillow covers and store them until I am ready to reuse them. While hunting for the perfect pillow, I searched for pillows that complimented each other yet precisely not matchy-matchy. I love how the different textures and colors play off each other. I purchased the patterned blue pillows here.

3. Rearrange & Add Accessories

Accessories make the most significant impact in your room. Adding a plush and oversized throw was the perfect addition for those fall nights and cooler temperatures.  I loved the luxurious feel this added to the bed. I decided to leave the bedside tables clean allowing the mirrors and lamps to be showcased. Check my previous blog post for tips on lamps and see some of my favorites for every budget and every style! This gorgeous blanket is from here, but I have also linked a similar one! The little pop of pink in the faux flower arrangement added the perfect feminine touch. My husband loves this detail…

4. Add a Rug

Every room needs a rug. I am pretty sure I have mentioned that a million times and I plan to preach it many more times! I always have a rug in my bedroom. If I lived in a custom built home, our room would have wood floors, but we have carpet, so I make it work. Again, just layering different fabrics and textures throughout the room will give a professional look. I decided to make a drastic change from our last rug.  I thought this modern, abstract rug was perfect to anchor the room. The bright white color with subtle hints of gray adds the perfect touch!

This space honestly has given me so much motivation (and relaxation). It feels so great to wake up to so many cozy textures! Don’t skip adding color to your room. Blue is the perfect color tone for a bedroom. Soft blues are known for calming the mind and aid in concentration. I sincerely hope this post gave you insight on how to refresh your master bedroom in four easy steps!
