Winter Décor After the Holidays

I promised at the beginning of the Holiday season that we would blink, and it would be over, and well, I blinked, and the holiday season is officially behind us! I have two emotions when putting away our holiday décor, first is happiness – the house immediately feels decluttered, but then the sadness sets in because the house feels so cold and lonely. If you too find yourself here, fear not. Transitioning your holiday home décor to winter décor after the holidays is simple and easy! And here’s a secret, we will be integrating some of those Christmas decorations you just bought!

When transitioning your home from Holiday décor to winter décor, the first step is always taking down and putting away most of your Christmas decorations. I am meticulous about how I store my Christmas decorations, trust me, if you organize as you put away you will thank yourself next year! Now that is complete, let’s move on.

Tone It Down

After the Christmas décor overload, I like to simplify my winter home décor. Say goodbye to the abundance of glitter and embrace a natural pallet in its place layering in tones of taupe’s, ivories, and whites. I am utilizing the birchwood logs that I added to my Christmas décor this year. I planned to pair it with a plush pillow and a cozy blanket by the lit fire. As I staged the basket, I realized I wanted to see the logs resting on the mantle, minimalistic style!

Winter Trimmings

You can actually reuse some of your Christmas décor for Winter. Any stems, picks, or branches you have that are organic in nature are perfect to use as winter décor. This year to make our Christmas décor represent a more organic, minimalist vibe, I integrated greenery into my settings. Instead of storing these stems, I decided to arrange them naturally in the oversized vase creating a simple and effortless arrangement. You can achieve the same look using real steams if your budget and availability allow.

I shared my new wreaths with y’all throughout the Christmas season and just wasn’t ready to put them away. Deciding to keep them displayed on the living room windows, styled with winter décor, they instantly take on a different look and feel than before.

Candles

One accessory I use all over my home during the winter months is candles. I linked all of my favorite candles, but I wanted to show you how I styled them in my house for the season. Oh, and how cute is this coffee bar I created? I love how cozy and functional this vignette is!

Create a Nook

I opted not to share my New Years resolutions in a blog post this year, I am still fine-tuning and will share as the new year progresses as to what I have in store for the blog and such. But for the new year, I am freeing myself of feeling obligated to work work work (sing in Rhianna’s voice) and give myself time for me, and a great way to do that is journaling and reading! Create a cozy nook that is designed for “me time.” Put your favorite candle, a warm blanket, stack your books and make it somewhere you long to be and comfortable enough to spend hours on end. Don’t forget the lamp!

My Favorite Nook Necessities

While I love everything Christmas, there is a sense of relief when all the Christmas decorations are safely stored, and life seems to slow down a bit. Transitioning to Winter décor after the holidays is anything but stressful. Create a cozy winter home that you long to spend time in. It is crazy to think this year is coming to an end, welcoming a new decade and new beginnings—allowing you to forget the past and create the future of your dreams. I have a lot in store for this new year and hope you continue on the journey with me. I wish you and your family a very happy new year!
